De Tombow Twin Tone markers, Nienke van @nienke.vletter schreef er een fijne review over! Hoe kan je die markers nu het beste gebruiken? En op welk bullet journal papier werken ze goed? Nienke geeft er antwoord op in deze blog, want wie kan dat beter dan een Lettering Illustrator?

Als illustrator krijg ik regelmatig de vraag: ‘Maar jij hebt toch meer dan genoeg pennen?' Tja, dat denk ik soms ook ;-) Maar zodra ik de Tombow TwinTone Dual-Tip Markers zag, stonden ze op mijn verlanglijstje. Ontzettend leuk dat ik de TwinTone sets nu voor Splendith mag testen!

Twin Tone Markers: 2 in 1
Tombow is vooral bekend van de Dual Brushpens. Het fijne aan hun brushpens vind ik dat dezelfde stift zowel een brushpen als een fineliner/viltstift heeft in dezelfde kleur. De nieuwe TwinTone Dual-Tip Markers hebben hetzelfde principe: 1 kleur, 2 verschillende kanten. Daar werd ik dus gelijk enthousiast van!

De ene kant is een fineliner van 0,3 mm, gemaakt van een soort kunststof, die prettig en heel mooi dun schrijft. Ik vind ze lijken op de tips van de nieuwe Micron PN en deze punten behouden hun vorm ontzettend goed. De andere kant is een viltstift van 0,8 mm. Qua dikte een goeie tegenhanger van de fineliner, en de punt voelt steviger dan een ‘normale’ viltstift.

Ga jij voor de Brights of Pastel set?
De TwinTone markers zijn er in 2 verschillende sets: Brights en Pastels. Ik kies normaliter vaker voor heldere kleuren, maar oh la la: die pasteltinten zijn ook wel erg fijn!

Beide sets hebben een goede mix van warme en koele tinten. De Brights set is duidelijk dieper van kleur dan de pasteltinten. Afhankelijk van het papier dat je gebruikt, is de Pastels set wel iets minder ‘pastel’ dan verwacht, maar daardoor ook goed zichtbaar.

Ik probeerde de TwinTones uit in 3 verschillende notebooks. In de Leuchtturm1917 vallen de kleuren het zachtst uit, maar schijnen ze toch iets meer door omdat het papier dunner is. Op het papier van Mijn Bulletjournal (van het merk Mus) en Nuuna by Brandbook zijn de kleuren donkerder. En vooral de warme tinten (roze, blush, oranje) uit de pastelset zijn op het dikkere papier van Nuuna bijna niet zichtbaar op de volgende pagina!

Een fijne toevoeging voor je collectie
Tombow heeft met de TwinTone Dual-Tip Markers weer een mooi product gemaakt. De kleuren zijn fijn, en de 2 verschillende diktes in één pen vind ik ideaal! Bovendien zijn de TwinTone Markers goed betaalbaar: € 18,95 voor een set van 12 stiften. 

En wat kun je met de TwinTone markers? In principe natuurlijk alles wat jij wilt! Tekenen, schrijven, handlettering, of je bullet journal. Ik ga ze vooral gebruiken voor (bullet)journaling en daarvoor zijn ze perfect. Ik ben dus erg blij met deze nieuwe aanvulling op mijn pennencollectie! En jij? Kies jij voor de Brights of Pastels set?

The Tombow Twin Tone markers, Nienke from @nienke.vletter wrote a nice review about it! How can you best use those markers? And on which bullet journal paper do they work well? Nienke answers it in this blog, because who can do that better than a Lettering Illustrator?

As an illustrator I often get the question: "But you have more than enough pens, don't you?" Well, I sometimes think so too ;-) But as soon as I saw the Tombow TwinTone Dual-Tip Markers, they were on my wish list. Very nice that I can now test the TwinTone sets for Splendith!

Twin Tone Markers: 2 in 1
Tombow is best known for the Dual Brushpens. The nice thing about their brushpens is that the same marker has both a brushpen and a fineliner / felt-tip pen in the same color. The new TwinTone Dual-Tip Markers have the same principle: 1 color, 2 different sides. I was immediately enthusiastic about that!

One side is a 0.3 mm fineliner, made of some kind of plastic, which writes pleasantly and very thinly. I think they resemble the tips of the new Micron PN and these tips hold their shape very well. The other side is a 0.8 mm felt-tip pen. A good counterpart to the fineliner in terms of thickness, and the tip feels firmer than a "normal" felt-tip pen.

Are you going for the Brights of Pastel set?
The TwinTone markers come in 2 different sets: Brights and Pastels. I normally choose bright colors more often, but oh la la: those pastel shades are also very nice!

Both sets have a good mix of warm and cool tones. The Brights set is clearly deeper in color than the pastel shades. Depending on the paper you use, the Pastels set is slightly less "pastel" than expected, but therefore also clearly visible.

I tried the TwinTones in 3 different notebooks. In the Leuchtturm1917 the colors are the softest, but they shine a bit more because the paper is thinner. On the paper of Mijn Bulletjournal (from the brand Mus) and Nuuna by Brandbook, the colors are darker. And especially the warm shades (pink, blush, orange) from the pastel set are almost invisible on the thicker Nuuna paper on the next page!

A nice addition to your collection
Tombow has made another great product with the TwinTone Dual-Tip Markers. The colors are fine, and I think the 2 different thicknesses in one pen are ideal! In addition, the TwinTone Markers are very affordable: € 18.95 for a set of 12 markers.

And what can you do with the TwinTone markers? Basically everything you want! Drawing, writing, hand lettering, or your bullet journal. I will mainly use them for (bullet) journaling and they are perfect for that. So I am very happy with this new addition to my pen collection! And you? Do you choose the Brights of Pastels set?
