Yes! Holbein granulating colours are now in stock. This is a new range of granulating watercolours, with 24 different beautiful colours.
Kachōfūgetsu
The 24 different colours are inspired by the Japanese concept: “Kachōfūgetsu” (花鳥風月) This is a philosophical and artistic concept that literally translates to “flowers, birds, wind (landscape) and moon”.
It refers to the appreciation of the beauty of nature and the harmony between man and the environment. This concept is often associated with Japanese art, poetry and aesthetics.
Meaning of the elements
花 (Ka) – Flowers: Symbolize the transience and splendor of nature, often associated with the seasons and the cycle of life.
鳥 (Chō) – Birds: Represent freedom and movement within the natural world. They also represent connection to the sky and the wind.
風 (Fū) – Wind (Landscape): Symbolizes change, movement, and the elusive nature of nature.
月 (Getsu) – Moon: Represents contemplation, mysticism and the timelessness of nature. The moon is often seen as a symbol of enlightenment and inner peace.
This concept encourages people to be inspired by nature and find beauty and meaning in it. Traditional Japanese painting (e.g. sumi-e), haiku poetry, and tea ceremonies often emphasize the essence of kachofugetsu. It reminds us to live in the moment and appreciate the simple, fleeting beauty of the world around us.
Holbein's new granulating watercolour collection reflects this idea by offering colours that capture the mood and magic of flowers, birds, wind and moon. 🌿🎨
