Fabrics definitely appeal to me. I love to walk through the fabric shop or even better the patch market in Utrecht. With all fabrics I see the possibilities and the things you can make with them. I certainly took that from my mother. We used to joke about my mom that she had so many fabrics, JK still does now;). My mother had so many fabrics in the attic that we always had patches to make doll clothes or to make something for ourselves. We had a mini fabric store to choose from. Because she also kept all leftovers, nice cut and paste with fabrics. Meanwhile, I secretly also have a large load of fabrics in my collection. And I am still very happy there.
Over the years I have learned a lot about fabrics and which fabrics can be used in various hobbies. I definitely found my embroidery favorites! Since I have always only used free embroidery, these favorites are especially suitable for free embroidery.
Cotton
A simple cotton fabric with a beautiful weave has my preference. Cotton mainly has the weaving that's the most evenly. In my last blog I told you how you can recognise that. For in the shop I found the most perfect fabric! And the best thing is that the fabric is available in the prettiest colors.
The thread of this fabric is even and the weave is thin. Of course cotton is a broad term. In the picture you see the structure of cotton, this one you can find in the shop.
Linnen cotton
Linnen cotton is 'surprisingly' a mix between linnen and cotton ;). This fabric has a beautiful color nuance and the structure is beautiful to embroider on. The weave is often a bit more loose than the cotton of the shop. It's definitely a beautiful material to work with!
Linnen
Linnen sometimes has the most beautiful shine! The weave in linnen can differ a lot, I personally love it when it has a fine weave, that's not too thin. Linnen often has a luxe feel to it and just looks beautiful. In the picture you can see what I mean with that.
As a sidenote, I would like to add: the name of the fabric is general. You have many variants per fabric type. The weaving per fabric can certainly differ. In the shop you'll find all my favorites! Then you don't have to search for the perfect fabric, I have already done that for you :).
Love,
