The annual Inktober drawing challenge is already quite well-known. Every year, more and more fun and unique challenges are posted online, which you can work on during the month of October. In this blog, we share the best challenges with you!
If you don't know it yet, Inktober is a challenge started in 2009 by Jake Parker. The original idea is to work with ink for a month - hence the name Inktober. For each day there is a 'prompt', or a word/subject, that you use in your drawing. Due to the limited material, you are mainly busy with the drawing itself, the prompts help to get you out of your comfort zone. With the challenge you can develop yourself as a (beginning) artist by practicing consistently.
Of course it is also fun to share your results on social media and see the results of others! In the meantime there are many different variations on the official 'Inktober' and of course you can also just get started with your favorite material.
Below a list of our favorite challenges:
Inktober
Of course we start this list with the prompts of the original artist. This year there is a theme around travel! Also nice about this challenge that a lot of people participate, so enough inspiration from others who are going to share their work around the prompts.
Peachtober
Peachtober is another popular challenge during October. This prompt list has random challenges, but they are very accessible. Based on your style, you can make it as easy or as difficult as you want.
Drawing Parade
The Drawing Parade challenge focuses on animals and nature. Super fun if you want to practice with that.
Calmtober
Calmtober is organized by Kristiãna, who often works with gouache and watercolors. This challenge has a prompt every other day. This makes it a bit easier to follow. The theme embraces the cozy autumn feeling.
Birdtober
If you have just completed Anne van Goudenlijntjes' bird course, or if you really enjoy drawing birds, this challenge is for you! There are two lists, one for birds from North America, and one with international birds.
Talens'Tober
For their 125th anniversary, Royal Talens is organizing Talens'Tober. They are completely in the party mood. If you participate in this challenge with their materials, and share this, you have a chance to win great prizes!
Bloomtober
Bloomtober is the last of this series. Peggy is organizing it again this year, with the theme of poisonous flowers and plants.
Finally, remember that this is a fun event to participate in, but do it at your own pace. Can’t make it through all 31 prompts? No problem, pick your favorite prompts, or just participate on the days that work for you. The most important thing is that you have fun!
Have fun drawing!
Love,
Judith
