The Princeton Heritage 4050 Series Synthetic Sable brushes is one of the most famous brushes from Princeton. More than 20 years ago, the Heritage series 4050 was the first synthetic brush to be offered to artists. This line with synthetic brushes has the same qualities as marten hair brushes, but is more durable and more affordable. The round brushes have a wonderful transition from thick to thin and absorb a lot of water.
Taklon as a green alternative
The brushes have a perfect mix of golden Taklon in multiple diameters. The brushes were developed by a Japanese master brush maker Naohide Takamoto. The "branch" in "Taklon" is based on the surname of this Japanese brush maker. Taklon is the name for the synthetic thread that is used in artist's quality materials.
Splendith is the only webshop in the Netherlands (perhaps Europe?) That sells this range of Princeton brushes. After seeing the brushes at Jenna Rainey, I decided to test the brushes. I can't wait to try out the brushes in combination with her book.
Princeton is one of the largest suppliers of brushes in North America. And fun fact, even if the company has grown so much: the owner still just sends orders and answers messages himself.
