The Holbein Acryla Gouache is an exciting paint to work with. Acryla is a mix between gouache and acrylic paint. Gouache is an opaque watercolor and acrylic is a waterproof paint. This means that this paint will dry with the look of gouache, but it will be waterproof.
What is actually the difference between Acrylic and Gouache?
Acrylic is a waterproof paint. Gouache can still be activated with water. Which means that once the paint has dried you can always use it by adding water. Whether this is on your palette or on the paper itself. So with gouache you can work a little slower. Using gouache can be less convenient if you want to work in multiple layers. Then it is useful if you have an acrylic gouache. Because once the layer underneath has dried it will no longer blend with the top layer. Which does happen with a regular gouache.
What is so special about this paint?
The Acryla Gouache has some of the best qualities of both paint types. The great thing about gouache is that this matte dries, and so does the Acryla Gouache. Acyrl often dries somewhat glossy. Acrylic paint is often fairly opaque, but usually contains 20% transparent acrylic material. With the Acryla this is a lot less, so it will be just as opaque as a gouache. However, it dries waterproof and in the same way as a gouache does.
Holbein Acryla also works very well because of the beautiful, bright colors they have. Holbein only makes artist quality products.
How is the Holbein Acryla Gouache packaged?
The Acryla Gouache comes in a beautiful gray box. The packaging contains a booklet with a color chart. This lists all the colors with information about how they are constructed.
In which sets is the Acryla available?
They are available in sets of 5, 2 of 12, 18, 24, 36 and of 102.
